- if feasible, delete topical subject headings (e.g., 650 Fathers and daughters, &c.) and literary form headings (e.g., 655 Tragicomedy &c.) from records.
- scrutinize the record for
- publishers and other names associated with publication or distribution
- printers and other names associated with manufacture
- printmakers and other names associated with illustration
- former owners
- search LC/NACO Authority file, and add established headings to the Hamnet record with appropriate relator terms
- identify any non-provenance headings needing NACO establishment
- make a place-holder heading, trying for correct form
- add heading in green to Unauthorized Headings spreadsheet (G://PicturingShakespeare/Cataloging and Recon/Authority Work)
- list any references consulted and any notes regarding difficulties in attribution
